A businessman helped children’s dreams come true, when he cycled 1,000 miles to raise £85,000 for charity.

Carl Murray, who lives in Worminghall, and is director of the West London Cash Convertors franchise, raised the whopping amount for the children’s charity Dreams Come True.

Together with two other colleagues, Mr Murray cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats, accompanied of course by the firm’s mascot Cashie The Cat.

Mr Murray said: “We are so proud to raise such a fantastic amount for Dreams Come True.

“The £85,000 will go towards creating dreams for children who are seriously or terminally ill, whether that is a life changing piece of specialised equipment or an amazing holiday or event.”

And Mr Murray admitted that the challenge was far harder than he thought it would be, as it fell right in the middle of the July heatwave.

He said: “The challenge was tough, especially in the hot weather and the storms – it was a real mixed bag.

“But it has been so rewarding and I am really pleased to have completed it.

“We hope that friends, families and customers who have witnessed our commitment to this cause will continue to show their support by sponsoring the Cashie team, as fundraising is still open.

“Each donation made, no matter how big or small, will be gratefully received and will go towards making dreams come true for children who truly deserve it.”

Nationally Cash Convertors has raised in excess of £150,000 for the charity, and the £85,000 will be added to that total.
