Barcelona-based artist Graham Nash will be exhibiting his sculptures for the fist time in a UK gallery when his work comes to Thame this weekend.

His work will be shown at Ballon Rouge Art, Tower House, 139a Chinnor Road, Thame from Sunday to December 2 from 11am to 6pm.

His method of applying semi-liquid material on to wire frames creates what has been described by critics as ‘a unique and disquieting effect’ in many of his pieces and is ‘an interesting departure from conventional figurative sculpture’.

Mr Nash calls this “natural evolutionary abstraction” where the material viscosity, gravity and ambient temperature all influence the final form.

“Above all my sculptures are meant to be affordable so that more people can enjoy them, but they may not last 100 years. So what!” Mr Nash said.

“My work is about now and I use modern materials and if someone feels like repainting one of my pieces to match their individual taste or to fit with their décor then let them do it. I even give a few tips on how to achieve this.”
