Horse-drawn skateboarding, dog competitions, archery and fishing are just some of the huge variety of activities on offer at the Thame Country Fair this bank holiday.

The two-day event at the Thame Showground has fun for all ages across three main arenas where horses, dogs and skilled countrymen will entertain with thrilling displays.

It had been feared unseasonable snow could affect proceedings, but visitors are now likely to just have to wrap up warm, with all events expected to go ahead as planned on Easter Sunday and Monday.

Fair organiser Mark Hulme said: “It’s going to be cold but it’s going to be dry and at this moment in time we will still be running a full schedule.”

The most exciting new attraction is the horse-drawn skateboarding, where brave-hearted riders are pulled on a skateboard at speeds of up to 30mph doing drag racing and slalom courses.

Mr Hulme said: “It’s a new up and coming extreme equestrian sport.

“It’s great entertainment and can be pretty gripping at times.”

Other activities on offer on Easter Sunday and Monday include falconry, a rifle range, cooking displays and a chainsaw carving competition.

Entrance on the day is £11 for adults, £10 for OAPs and £4 for children aged five to 15.
