IT was a hot night for the owner’s of the Thatch Pub last Wednesday as they tested their skills in the kitchen.
Manager Frazer Sutherland put on his chef hat along with his deputy Evelin Rae and Peach Pubs owner Lee Cash as they catered for 70 keen diners.
The whole experience was eye-opening for the trio but one they truly enjoyed.
Frazer said: “I think we all had a lot of fun in the kitchen but I think the best bit is that the guests seemed to enjoy it as well.
“It was good because we were put out of our normal situation and got an understanding of what the kitchen staff do.”
Frazer and his team appeared to cope well with the pressures of the kitchen as they didn’t have a single dish returned.
The customers even praised the cooking on the night, and Frazer said he was delighted they had enjoyed themselves.
“There were some great comments about the night, people even came in the next day to tell us how much they enjoyed the night,” he said.
Usual head chef Ross Whitmill took the opportunity to get out of the kitchen and spent his evening entertaining the guests at their tables.
But all the staff are now back performing their normal duties, which has come as a great relief for Frazer.
He said: “I am more than happy to be back in my job where everything is very comfortable and we know what to do. It is not an easy job but it is enjoyable.”
