A home owner from Weston Turville has become the first person in the Vale to be fast-tracked through a simplified planning system which has seen him gain approval for an extension in just six days.

Piyush Naik applied for a Householder Extension Local Development Order (LDO) to build a single storey and side link extension.

The council has aproved the LDO - the first in the Vale - and the process took around six days to process rather than the previous average of eight weeks.

Councillor Sue Polhill, cabinet member for Planned Development, Design and Conservation, said: “I’m delighted that the first Householder Extension LDO has been approved in Aylesbury Vale.

“This measure is allowing us to take a more flexible approach to planning applications that are deemed straightforward and low impact. “We urge any other residents that are considering extending their home to take advantage of this simplified approach to planning.”

The LDO is designed to speed up the planning process for people building smaller home extensions by granting planning permission automatically for any works that comply with the order conditions and design code set by AVDC to safeguard amenities.

Mr Naik said: “The form was very simple to complete and the guidance document was very useful.”

James Bygate, the architect and agent for the planning application, said: “The new LDO is a much quicker and simpler experience.”
