AN adventurer from Cuddington is embarking on a once in a lifetime long distance sailing race to raise money for an African school.
Honour Schram de Jong, who is originally from Holland but grew up in the village, is taking part in the Clipper Round the World trip which will see her sail from the West Coast of Australia to China..
Honour, 37, flies out on December 10 and will join up with her boat, named the De Lage Landen, to start her journey on December 24.
“My father was in the Dutch navy and I did a bit of sailing when I was younger.
“But then I moved to Africa where I was landlocked.
“It has always been a dream of mine and now is just the right time.
“I always wanted to learn how to sail properly and this is the chance.”
Honour is joining up with the rest of her crew for the fifth leg of eight with her boat currently sitting in fifth place.
